Summer and winter from one unit
Heat Pump Services in Johns Creek
Fixes, swap-outs and fresh installs for the one machine out back that keeps you cool in July and warm in January.
One Machine, Two Seasons
Stand next to a heat pump and it looks just like a regular condenser. In summer it acts like one too. Come winter it flips direction, scavenging warmth from the outdoor air and moving it indoors. That trick suits north Georgia well, with long, muggy summers and winters that are mostly mild. It also means the machine never gets an off-season, so small faults snowball faster. A few things that alarm homeowners are perfectly fine. On a raw, damp morning the fan may stop, the unit hisses and a puff of steam rolls off: that is defrost melting frost from the coil. During a deep freeze electric heat strips may switch on as a helper, and the thermostat may show an aux light. What is not fine: a coil caked in ice that never clears, cool air for long stretches in heat mode, backup heat running nonstop or a unit stuck in one mode. Those usually trace to a bad defrost board or sensor, a sticky reversing valve, a low charge or a fan problem. We test until we know which. Certain houses run a heat pump alongside a gas furnace so the furnace can handle the bitter nights. We look after those dual-fuel setups as well.
What Heat Pump Service Includes
From a frosted coil to a whole new unit, here is what we take on.
Defrost faults
Boards, sensors and timers that let ice pile up on the outdoor coil.
Reversing valve
A valve stuck in one position, so the unit refuses to switch between heating and cooling.
Heat strips
Auxiliary heat that runs constantly, never comes on, or trips a breaker the moment it does.
Cooling-side fixes
Weak capacitors, burned contactors, worn fan motors and leaks, handled just like on any AC.
Dual-fuel pairing
Heat pump and gas furnace set to hand off at the right outdoor temperature.
Swap-outs and installs
New heat pumps chosen for your house and ducts, with a paired air handler and a full startup test.
How Heat Pump Service Works
Run both modes
Heat, then cool, with gauges on, while we watch pressures, temperatures and a defrost cycle.
Sort normal from broken
Normal quirks get explained so you can relax. Real faults get a firm price, or a replacement option when the unit is spent.
Repair and recheck
Part swapped or new equipment set, then heating and cooling tested once more before we leave.
